Where Does the Time Go?

It has been a while since I shared what is happening in my little corner of the world. I am home today watching the snow falling and thinking how lucky I am to have a nice warm studio to create in. I am working on apples today but just finished a piece to remind us that summer will one day be here. I call this “Sunset Beach”

I had a great 2016. Opus asked me to do an Artist Demo again this year so I finally feel comfortable calling myself an artist. I was very nervous the first time I gave a demo there but this year was a little easier for me. It is such fun to meet other artists and you always learn from them as well.

I participated in the Okanagan Artisans Guild Show and Sale in November. It was my first show and I was not too sure of what I was getting into but it was a lot of fun to be out there meeting people and displaying my artwork. In the month of December I participated in the Vernon Community Art Centre Show called “Artsolutely”. This show runs every year at this time and is a major fundraiser for the Art Centre. I loved being a part of this event as the Art Centre and the people I have met there play a special part in my life.

Once again London Drugs asked me to be their “Local Inspiration” artist and my artwork has been on display in the Photo Department for the last couple of months. London Drugs does a great job on all my printing projects and are very supportive of my artwork.

January was a quiet month which was good news for me as I had been asked to give a workshop for teachers at a ProD Day in Lake Country in February. This gave me plenty of time to prepare as this would be my first workshop and I wanted it to be a success. Needless to say I was a little nervous about giving it but I had a lovely group of teachers who enjoyed creating their “Happy Art”. They found their “Zen” and went home with art they created and information to carry on to create more.

Last week I received word that I have been accepted into “Creative Chaos” this coming June and although it is some time away I am already getting items ready for the show. Right after that some members of our Art Club are going on an Art Studio Tour in the Nelson area and a week after that we are having an Artist Studio Tour here in Vernon. I will be opening my studio along with several other artists. Some artists who do not have studios will be displaying their work at the BX Cidery, Vernon Community Art Centre and Mackie House. The Artist Studio Tour date is set for Saturday June 17 and more details will be made public in May.

Finally, here is another one of the newer pieces I have finished lately. I call it “Magic Mushrooms”
